ReportAI Expert takes the inspection you have already documented and helps you build the report a tribunal or court expects: every required item in its place, the declaration in the prescribed wording, and your firm’s own Word template on the finished document.
You remain the expert. The software drafts the engineering from your site evidence; it never writes your qualifications, your relationship with the parties, your instructions or your opinion for you.
Tribunals and courts covered today
- VCAT (Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal): Practice Note PNVCAT2 — Expert evidence. Includes the Generative AI disclosure item in clause 13(l).
- NCAT (NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal): Procedural Direction 3 — Expert evidence.
- Federal Court (Federal Court of Australia): Expert Evidence Practice Note (GPN-EXPT) and the Harmonised Expert Witness Code of Conduct.
QCAT, SACAT, SAT (WA), TASCAT, ACAT and NTCAT are not covered yet. We add a tribunal only once its practice note has been worked through clause by clause. Practice notes change: always read the version that applies to your matter.
What Expert does
Checks every required item is there
Each item the practice note requires (instructions, facts and assumptions, materials relied on, tests, the declaration and the rest) is mapped to a section of your report. Before you download, you see which ones are still empty. It finds gaps; it does not judge whether what you wrote is adequate. That remains your call.
Flags where the report contradicts itself
If the cover names one instructing party and the body names another, or an instruction asks you to examine something the report never mentions again, you are told, with exactly what was compared. It flags; it never rewrites.
Shows the questions the other side may ask
Reads your draft the way opposing counsel would and lists the questions a weak sentence invites. Questions only, never suggested answers: the reasoning in the report has to be yours. It is preparation, not legal advice.
Reads your CV, without embellishing it
Upload your CV and your qualifications and experience are extracted exactly as written, for you to check and accept. Nothing is inferred or rounded up.
The declaration, in the prescribed wording
The tribunal’s own declaration text is placed in the report, word for word, for you to sign.
Your firm’s own Word templates
Upload your firm’s report as a template: your cover, letterhead, fonts, numbering and sign-off. Keep one template for ordinary reports and another for court reports. The result is an editable Word document you can finish in Word.

- Choose the tribunal. VCAT, NCAT or the Federal Court. The report is structured to that practice note.
- Write your statements. Your expertise, relationship with the parties and instructions, in your own words. Attach your CV and letter of instruction.
- Review the gaps. See every required item still empty, every contradiction, and the questions the other side may ask.
- Download in your format. An editable Word document in your firm’s template, ready for your final read and signature.

Questions
Does ReportAI write my expert opinion?
No. It drafts the engineering description from the site evidence you recorded, for you to check and correct. Your qualifications, your relationship with the parties, your instructions and your opinions are written and confirmed by you. Your duty is to the court or tribunal, and the report is yours alone.
Does it make my report compliant with the practice note?
No software can promise that, and ReportAI does not. It checks that every item the practice note requires has a section with content in it, and shows you the ones that are empty. Whether the content is adequate is your professional judgement.
Do I have to disclose that I used AI?
VCAT’s practice note PNVCAT2 requires a Generative AI disclosure (clause 13(l)). A VCAT report includes it automatically: the Tribunal’s own sentence from PNVCAT11 first, then what the tool did and did not write. For other tribunals and courts, check the current practice note and any direction in your matter; disclosure is your responsibility.
Can I use my own report format?
Yes. Upload your firm’s Word report as a template (one for general reports and one for court reports if you want). We can set it up for you for a one-time A$399.
Which tribunals are covered?
VCAT, NCAT and the Federal Court of Australia today. The other state and territory tribunals are not covered yet.
Is my material kept confidential?
Your reports and templates are stored privately in your account. Text you write is sent to our AI providers to draft the report; photo files are not sent to an AI model. See the Privacy Policy for details.
